4th Feb aka Valentines day is here ! Though I feel that this day is heavily commercialised , this is indeed a day to remind us to count our lives' blessings with our loved ones. But my definition of love is a bit broader.
A couple of days back,I saw a heart warming scene from the 7th floor of my college dorm. My eyes fell upon this beautiful scene :
A family of 4 , parents and their 2 tiny children hold hands in a string and stroll late at night. The children try to run , with their tiny legs going haywire. The parents try to keep pace with them, thoroughly enjoying the moment. The son tries to climb up a nearby wall in a spirit of innocent adventure. The dad encourages him and lifts him up ,places him on the wall, and makes sure he is all right by holding his pinky finger. Yet, he gives him all the freedom to walk as he pleased on the thin boundary of the wall. His little sister watches him in awe. The mom realises this and she follows suit . She lifts her up ,and places her in front of her brother. The family hop in the charming pleasures of parenthood and childhood, as they walk in the moonlit starry night.
This nearly made me tear up. I was struck with guilt of almost stealing their joyful moments ,yet filled with bliss of having seen something so pure. It reminds me of my own parents who always let me do what I feel is right ,but are always there in case I stumble and fall to make me stand upright again. If this is not love, then what is?
Valentine's day should be beyond gifts and expensive candlelight dinners. It should be a day to celebrate with anyone whom you love : parents, siblings, friends, life partners, just anyone.
